Illustration | When Witches Go Riding.

This illustration was done during my high school New Media option class as a weekly challenge where we had 30 minutes to design something based on a given prompt.

PROCESS

Right off the bat I started looking for some type of inspiration and found this quote. From there I just dissected the quote and looked for aspects of the theme and quote that I could use to visualize. I then found reference images for each; the cat, broomstick, and witch as well as the moon and stars. I knew I wanted the witch to be the focal point so I drew that out and later, started to play around with the formatting of the quote. I tried using different fonts to reaffirm the feeling and look of the quote as well as adding variations in sizes to add interest to the piece. Finally, I added the icons I replicated and a soft gradient to the witch.
