Graphic design | Product Photography.

This was done as a multi-step process for an Ecommerce website we created. The purpose was to create a set of 20 photos over a category of three different types. Keeping in mind to have similar lighting/colour properties, photo friendly formats, and edited image sizes.

PROCESS

For this assignment, we were during COVID, so I took inventory from the list of brands we were given, and what I had a surplus of to take photos of. This task required me to think outside the box as I had wanted to minimize the shadows cast by the light.

I didn't own a light box so I ended up finding a deep photo frame with an insert in it that I turned around to give myself a plain white background. From there I used the prongs to dangle the necklaces off of while I used a ring light and the natural light from a nearby window to help minimize the leftover shadows. The necklace photos used the makeshift lightbox standing up while I laid it flat for the earrings that I was unable to hang.

With taking the photos out of the way, I moved on to editing with Photoshop, adjusting curves and brightness/contrast settings, trying to enhance the colours and metal properties of the jewelery I was editing.

I wasn't happy with the shadows that were still showing up so I added a solid colour fill to make a plain white background throughout the items taken. Creating a cohesive feeling overall.
