Illustration | Dungeons & Dragons.

In a group of five, we were assigned with creating an E-learning website to help teach new skills or information on a topic of our choosing. The material needed to be divided into a minimum of three modules that engagingly delivered content.

PROCESS

I went into this project knowing a basic overview of Dungeons & Dragons and how it worked. Due to that, I started to research icons and colours that signified each of the classes and races I had to develop illustrations for. I found that while the classes had a lot of characteristics to signify them, the races didn't have much to them.

As a result, I started sketching ideas for the icons which led me to take a different approach to the races. With the races, I did an outline for each based on the dnd handbook while the classes took on more of a symbolic collage look. This was due to the characteristics and information that went along with them.

I took characteristics from each idea and worked to combine them into one while keeping a common theme throughout. Then proceeded to add colour. Finally, since these needed to become interactable buttons, I created a simple housing to put the icons within, and since I wanted to bring in a bit more of the Dungeons & Dragons feel, I created a few dice to add in.
